Allergies and Intolerance Tests
Allergy and intolerance are two different things — and they need two different tests. Answer one question below and we’ll point you to the right one.

An allergy test won't find an intolerance, and an intolerance test won't find an allergy. Pick the one that sounds like you.
Within minutes to about two hours of exposure.
Hours, sometimes a day or two later — and hard to pin on one food.

The difference
People use these words interchangeably. Your immune system doesn't.
Your immune system wrongly decides a harmless protein — peanut, cat dander, grass pollen — is a threat, and makes IgE antibodies against it. Next time you meet it, those antibodies trigger a rapid release of histamine.
That's why allergic reactions are fast: minutes to a couple of hours. It's also why they can be serious. A blood test finds allergies by measuring those IgE antibodies.
No IgE, no histamine cascade. Your body simply struggles to break something down — the classic example being lactose, where the enzyme that digests milk sugar is in short supply.
Symptoms arrive slowly and vaguely: bloating, fatigue, headaches, hours after eating. Unpleasant and genuinely disruptive, but not dangerous — and invisible to an allergy test.
If your reactions are fast — rash, swelling, sneezing, wheeze — you want an allergy test. Start with Essential if you want an affordable look at the 42 most common triggers, choose Complete if you want the full ~300-allergen picture, or Premium if you need answers quickly or want to know whether a positive result is a true allergy or a cross-reaction. If your symptoms are slow and digestive, the Premium Food Intolerance Test is the right one.
Both cover a similar breadth of allergens. Premium is faster — same-day results if your sample reaches the lab before the morning cut-off, versus 14 working days for Complete — and it uses molecular (component) testing across 218 allergens, which can distinguish a genuine allergy from a cross-reaction. If speed and precision matter, choose Premium. If breadth at a lower price matters, choose Complete.
Your results are released once approved by our GPs, and arrive as a clear, colour-coded PDF report. A one-to-one consultation to talk through your results is available separately.
No — all of our allergy and intolerance tests are for adults aged 18 and over.
Essential and the Food Intolerance test use a finger-prick kit posted to your home. Complete and Premium give you three options: a finger-prick or self-organised sample, a professional venous draw at one of 200+ clinics nationwide, or a nurse who comes to you.
Results are for informational purposes and are not a substitute for professional medical advice. They cannot diagnose, treat or cure a medical condition. If you have ever experienced difficulty breathing, throat tightness or collapse after exposure to a food, insect sting or medicine, seek urgent medical advice rather than testing at home. All tests are for adults aged 18 and over.
Have your blood taken in-clinic by one of our skilled phlebotomists and check multiple biomarkers in one go. Many of our tests can also be done in the comfort of your own home with one of our easy-to-use test kits.
Take a test, either in the comfort of your own home, with a nurse visit, or at one of our clinics nationwide.
Your sample is analysed in the clinic, laboratory or using your home test equipment.
