Understanding the Anti-Mullerian Hormone Blood Test

Our Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) test will check your ovarian reserve to identify whether your hormone level is normal for your age, which may impact your fertility levels.

What is the Anti-Mullerian Hormone Blood Test?

The Anti-Mullerian Hormone Blood Test measures the level of AMH in your blood. This hormone is produced by ovarian follicles and is crucial for assessing a woman's reproductive health. High levels often indicate a good ovarian reserve, while low levels may suggest decreased fertility. Therefore, understanding your AMH levels can give you important insights into your fertility potential.

Why is the AMH Blood Test Important?

Taking the Anti-Mullerian Hormone Blood Test is essential for women who want to understand their fertility status. The results help doctors assess how many eggs the ovaries have left, which is vital for planning treatments like IVF. For instance, if a woman has low AMH levels, doctors can take proactive steps to improve her chances of conception. So, this test plays a significant role in personalized fertility planning.

More Information

An AMH test is often used to check a woman’s ability to produce eggs that can be fertilised for pregnancy. A woman’s ovaries can make thousands of eggs during her childbearing years, but the number declines with age. AMH levels help show how many potential egg cells a woman has left, known as the ovarian reserve.

If your reserve is high, you may have a better chance of getting pregnant, or the opportunity to wait longer before trying to get pregnant.

If your ovarian reserve is low, it may mean you could have trouble getting pregnant, and may choose to try for a baby sooner rather than later.
