Choose your testNon-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) looks at small fragments of DNA from the placenta that circulate in your blood. It works out the chance that your baby has certain chromosome conditions. It’s the most accurate screening test for Down’s syndrome available in pregnancy, and completely safe for you and your baby.
Pick your test and a clinic near you, or a nurse visit at home. Any time from 10 weeks of pregnancy.
We take a small sample from your arm. It carries tiny fragments of your baby’s DNA from the placenta, so there’s no risk to your baby.
From 3 working days. If a result is high-chance, a genetic counsellor talks it through with you, free of charge.
Every test screens for Down’s, Edwards’ and Patau’s syndromes and can tell you your baby’s sex. Prices include your clinic appointment, the laboratory analysis and your results.

The NHS offers NIPT only after a higher-chance result from the combined or quadruple test, and only for Down’s, Edwards’ and Patau’s syndromes.
Have it from 10 weeks without waiting, at a clinic near you, and choose a test that checks more conditions if you’d like to.
Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) is a blood test you can have from 10 weeks of pregnancy. It looks at small fragments of DNA from the placenta that circulate in your blood and works out the chance that your baby has certain chromosome conditions, such as Down's syndrome. It is completely safe for you and your baby.
From 10 weeks of pregnancy, on the day of your blood test. If you only want to know your baby's sex, our early gender blood test works from 6 weeks.
NIPT is the most accurate screening test for Down's syndrome available in pregnancy, far more accurate than the NHS combined test. It is still a screening test: a high-chance result should be confirmed with a diagnostic test (CVS or amniocentesis). Our genetic counsellors will talk you through any high-chance result free of charge.
The NHS offers NIPT only after a higher-chance result from the combined or quadruple test, and only for Down's, Edwards' and Patau's syndromes. Privately you can have it from 10 weeks without waiting, and choose a test that checks more conditions.
If you mainly want to know about Down's, Edwards' and Patau's syndromes, PrenatalSAFE 3 covers them. PrenatalSAFE 5 adds the sex chromosome conditions. Karyo and Karyo Plus look at every chromosome, and Karyo Plus adds nine microdeletion syndromes such as DiGeorge. Complete Plus adds inherited and new genetic conditions. Not sure? Call 01225 444 144.
PrenatalSAFE 3 and 5 take 3 to 5 working days, Karyo 5 to 7, Karyo Plus 10 to 12, and Complete Plus reports in two stages, at 10 to 12 and 20 working days. Results are emailed to you.
Yes. All our NIPT tests can tell you your baby's sex if you want to know, for single pregnancies and identical twins. If you'd rather keep it a surprise, just tell us.
Yes. NIPT is suitable for twin pregnancies confirmed by scan and for IVF pregnancies, including egg donation. It is not suitable for triplets or more.
At one of 250+ partner clinics across the UK, or by a nurse at your home or work. For PrenatalSAFE 3, SAFE 5 and the gender test you can also use your own doctor or nurse with the kit we post you. Karyo, Karyo Plus and Complete Plus include a pre-test consultation, so they are booked with a clinic or a nurse visit.
