FAQS

Goodbody Clinic is a group of private clinics facilitating COVID-19 and health testing. We offer a range of testing including Antigen and PCR tests for the detection of the COVID-19 virus. We are partnered with a leading London Laboratory to ensure utmost accuracy and turnaround times. We specialise in fast and accurate service.

  • All home test kits can be ordered via our website. Click the links below to visit the relevant test pages and make your purchase:

  • We no longer offer in-clinic PCR tests due to the reduced level of demand for those services and the changes in travel regulations.

If you need a PCR test to travel, please visit our PCR Home Testing page.

  • PCR Tests - within 1 day after your swab is received at the laboratory - you will need to post your swab to the laboratory via Royal Mail on the same day that you take the sample.

Fit to Fly Lateral Flow (Antigen) - Results visible within 15 minutes, PDF Certificate within 1 hour via email.

  • Yes - we still provide results 7 days a week, including Saturdays and Sundays, and these will be emailed to you as per the test type you have completed.

  • The PCR test is a very complex analysis undertaken using state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, however there are times when the machinery does not find enough of your cells to give sufficient results. Therefore the swab has to be re-run on the machine which can add a delay to the lab results. Please bear this in mind if you are booking onward travel. Please also check your junk email, as the PDF attachments can be filtered into junk mail. If you cannot find your results please call or email us sooner, rather than later. There is a chance the email address was incorrectly inputted or detailed on the test request form. We have seen issues with GMAIL rejecting the PDF certificates, so please get in contact with an alternative email address.

  • Yes, we provide CE Marked, Government approved Lateral Flow (Antigen) test kits for use at home, work or events.

These do not come with a Fit to Fly Certificate.

  • This depends on the reason you would like a test.

If you are travelling abroad, typically the destination country will tell you which type of test you need - either a PCR or a Lateral Flow test will be accepted. Lateral Flow Tests are also sometimes called Antigen Tests.

If you are not travelling and simply want to test for peace of mind, a Lateral Flow home test kit is a quick and affordable way to check whether you have the virus present. Our home test kits are the same as used in the NHS and are UK government approved.

  • All our PCR tests are self-swabs that you complete at home. Swabs are typically taken from the nose and throat. Full instructions are provided within the test kit, but it is a simple process which you may have previously experienced if you have taken as test with the NHS.

Our Lateral Flow (Antigen) test kits are all self-administered home test kits, which you complete yourself at home, using the same nose and throat swabbing process as our PCR tests.

  • We advise you to do your own research in-line with the guidelines for where you are travelling to. You can find lots of information on the UK’s government website. https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice and https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-travel-corridors .

  • Broadly speaking yes, it is the method to test the samples. Our method of testing is RT-PCR which is the current standard for travelling. It is a further description of the sampling technique. We have not heard of anyone challenging the PCR method types.

  • Both our PCR and Antigen testing kits conform to the 98/79/EC European Parliament and of the Council on in vitro diagnostic medical devices. Both products have certified CE markings and certification is available upon request.

Our diagnostic blood testing is completed by a leading London-based laboratory which is both CQC registered and accredited in accordance with ISO 15189:2012.

Our chosen partner for PCR testing is an independent clinical testing specialist and provider of pathology diagnostics services to clients across the healthcare sector. The laboratory is UKAS registered and they will communicate directly with you regarding your results.
